Chrome 45 breaks the WordPress admin menu

Fortunately there is a way round it. Until Chrome 47 is released.

Oh it would great if it gets fixed sooner rather than later. WordPress is so widely used it must be affecting a lot of people.

Never mind breaking WordPress cos Chrome 45 got me a BSOD

    Big red switch time

Isn’t 45 the release that totally disables Flash as well?

Erm, I know they are automatically pausing Flash animations to conserve laptop battery. Are stopping support for Flash entirely now?

It was a story I read a few weeks back Alan Stainer though seems like it was inaccurate.

Just checked and I see this in chrome

    C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\45.0.2454.85\PepperFlash\pepflashplayer.dll

which is the path to get flash to run on my computer. (chrome://plugins then click on details to find)

Then there is this from Google

    https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/6213033?hl=en

which appears to say that flash does still work but they have taken a swipe at Silverlight (Microsoft) and Java (Oracle) because they won’t work anymore. Haven’t checked that out though.

    http://www.java.com/en/download/installed8.jsp

    That gets an error message

Some complicated thing that I don’t undestand . Essence of it is that they have dropped all support for NPAPI plugins but still support PPAPI. The latter is known as ‘Pepper’ which appears in my filename.

I’ve not touched flash in ages anyway so it wouldn’t much bother me if it went.

Too complicated for my aging brain!

Flash will not be missed. Anyone that still develops sites using Flash needs their brain checked.
