Maybe look at a guide for windows users to turn off non-essentials (which windows has a fair amount of).

Also warn them not to be “entry level” machines – as they often barely have enough CPU & RAM to actually do anything with (yes, I’m looking at you Hewlett Packard).

Lyndon NA definitely. I had one customer not too long ago who bought a cheap laptop and it ran out of space in the first couple of days. It was one of those ones with a 32 GB SSD that Microsoft think can compete with Chromebooks. After Windows and all the essentials were installed, it was useless. I advised him to take it back, get a refund and buy something more appropriate.

Edit: I just remembered, it was an HP laptop.

Alan Stainer bought my little lass an HP touchscreen whatnot, thinking it would make life easier for her.

Even after clearing out the fluff and garbage – it still takes 4 mins to boot, and another 2 mins before the CPU/RAM consumption drops to below 70%.

It’s disgusting that they get to sell stuff that is barely usable – even by a little!
