Is Google Chrome blocking ads for you?

April 18, 2018 by Alan Stainer

Is Google Chrome blocking ads for you?

This apparently went live earlier this year, but I have yet to see Chrome block anything. It could be a very slow roll out.

Have you seen it doing anything on the sites you visit?

It’s not a full-on adblocker like ABP; Chrome only blocks some particular types which are very disruptive or back-handed. I’m thinking of pop-unders or the ones which block the entire page.

Ashley Wilson I know and I have still yet to see it myself. The Forbes website is a classic example.

Mya Mi Google is all about improving web site speed and aesthetics. It’s one of the big factors in determining search rankings, which Google in invested in getting right, because that’s where they make a lot of their money. It is not in their best interest to do anything that would make the web experience worse for users of Chrome.
