The cost of technology is always coming down. Battery costs are down. Solar cell costs are down. Wind turbine costs are down. Renewable energy is the cheapest and cleanest source of energy around and electric cars are even getting cheaper.
The hidden costs of internal combustion engines are not often talked about, but EVs are giving traditional manufacturers a head ache. Traditional auto makers can effectively sell an ICE vehicle at a loss, because they will more than make up for that in maintenance and repairs in the first five years. EVs don’t give them that option, needing only really minor things done to them (like checking the brake fluid), which helps to explain why the initial cost is still higher.
