Impossible Burger

January 24, 2018 by Alan Stainer

Impossible Burger

It’s impossible, because it has never been so much as near a cow and yet it looks, smells, tastes and feels like a burger.

Lots of benefits from a sustainability and environmental perspective, as raising cattle to produce beef is pretty harmful to the environment.

Damn it’s making me hungry.

I would love to try one, but I don’t think they are available in the UK yet…

DD P On their website you can search for a location that serves them. If you can’t find one nearby, they have a nice option to demand your local restaurant start serving them. It is tempting, but I can’t decide which restaurant!

This isn’t new; however, he said the cows fart and burp a lot, well, not eating meat wouldn’t make them fart less! Not to mention that all the trillions and trillions of living organisms do the same thing, it’s called metabolism waste.

This OP reminds me of when gas prices skyrocketed during President Bush’ tenure.

His refusal to purchase Brazilian ethanol, an environment friendly fuel, to be sold in the USA at $0.50 a gallon, was based on the grounds that it would have destabilised the economy of oil producing countries and make wealthy other countries that weren’t ready for wealth.

    A lousy excuse.

Despite your denial, cows ARE environment friendly.

Their urine is antiseptic and their dong or feces is the best natural fertilizer there is.

miguel agramonte I actually have no idea what you are saying. All living things have an impact on the environment, some more so than others. Yes we exist in an ecosystem and cattle do have benefits, but farming them for food is resource intensive and there are simply less destructive ways to produce food. Also with reference to my comment about them causing havoc, that was specifically with regards to millions of cattle suddenly being unleashed upon the wild. It would put that delicately balanced ecosystem out of whack and cause any number of other logistical problems. Have you seen the state of the ground after a herd of cattle have been through? These are large animals we are talking about, not something you can simply ignore and hope for the best.

Paul Scollon a couple of years we went on a hunting trip to Botswana. We found cattle that was wild, the ran away when they saw us and they were a danger society. We did not expect them to be wild. You might just as well kill them. But if you stop beef meat production here in South Africa the whole population will be up in arms. We are a meat eating country. Beef is still affordable here. And I for one still like my fillet steak. The main culprits that is creating global warming is the Northern Hemisphere. That is why the Arctic is disappearing at an alarming rate. But we are beginning to see the climate change down here as well. And in the region where I live there huge amounts of coal. So we’ve got lots of coal power stations. In fact they are building the second biggest coal power station in Africa 20 k,m from us.It will have capacity of 4800 MW when it is fully operational.

I grew up in a farm. I never saw any devastating effect on the field after their gracing.

That is the media and lobbyists who are trying to sell you fake information in the name of innovation. But if you are still amused by that, go ahead and enjoy your pharmaceutical berger.

As for myself, I’m a vegetarian.
