$10,492 Tesla Model S Maintenance Costs After 300,000 Miles, $0 Charging

I haven’t shared much Green Tech stuff lately as I have been away and since coming back, catching up with things! So you may seen a tiny barrage of things from me now I am back.

h/t to Dave Webster for this one. Electric vehicles really are the future for multiple reasons and one of them is most definitely cost! They are cheaper than the initial asking price would suggest.

    My records show that I’ve spent about $8,000 in maintenance to drive a 2000 4Runner 160k miles over the span of 14 years. My 2007 Accord has also cost me about $8,000 to drive 130k miles over the span of 7 years. This does not include cost of gasoline (because I’m not that detailed)

    It looks to me like the rough cost of maintenance on a Tesla is about half of that of a ICE car. If I remember my rough math on the cost of fuel vs electricity it was also about half (assuming I’m buying it from my local utility and not using solar panels)

    Alan Dee both of those cars are significantly cheaper than a model s. To do a fair comparison, see the 300,000 mile maintenance cost of a Mercedes s class, BMW 7 or Audi 7/8. It’ll be WAY higher.

    Alan Dee as for fuel cost, it depends where you get your electricity. I pay about $7 to fill up and drive 400km. That’s wayyy cheaper than gasoline. My last ice car was a 91 BMW 535, and I could go 400km on a tank, which cost $100 5 years ago (much worse today)

    $0 charging would not be true for 99+% of the population. And I can guarantee that in my region those maintenance costs would probably be double because there are only ?5? places to fix them in my country.
