Ubitricity

Ubitricity

Oh now this is clever stuff!

Charging points for EVs have until now been awkward. If you haven’t got a garage or driveway, then you’re restricted to finding and using one of the designated parking bays with a charger attached. It’s expensive to install and causes problems with parking (funny that).

What Ubitricity have done is to develop a charging point that sits inside regular street lighting. It’s also 10 times cheaper to install than a standalone charging point, meaning more can be put in. The intention then is to install enough that you don’t need parking bays reserved for electric vehicle charging.

It’s a logical step. It would also make sense to fit small solar panels on top of street lamps to use as micro-generators with the energy stored either in the lamp itself or in a larger battery on the street in or next to the switch panel / converter.
