Google confirms they will start blocking ads in Chrome

This is really big news. Chrome will start blocking ads that do not conform to a set of standards, including on sites that host Google ads.

So is this goodbye AdBlock Plus and the like?

Originally shared by Artem Russakovskii

Google’s plan going forward is to block ads that don’t conform to Better Ads Standards from showing in Chrome.

So if you want free, you’ll get only good ads.

If you want to see no ads at all, you can use Contributor and Funding Choices to pay a small fee to your favorite sites by buying an ad-free pass.

This is how the web should be.

While this is a good thing in many ways, it gives Google a lot of power. I’ll continue to use uBlock Origin because it does other things too.

Colin Jones I usually do. Sometimes you can have some unexpected good things happening when you engage and try to educate people though.
