At last! This means with Ubuntu (and other distros with Firefox) you can watch Netflix out of the box.

Uh… Back when Netflix wasn’t supported on Chrome I used some program which was essentially a cut down version of Firefox running Netflix without any buttons or navigation bars. But that was a while ago, I don’t use FF as a browser unless I need to test something but I always assumed Netflix worked there and has always done so.
Are you saying you can’t watch Netflix on Chrome on Ubuntu?

Jean-Loup Rebours-Smith Chrome has had it for a while. The groundwork for Firefox was there, but apparently it has taken Netflix several months to switch things over their end. Now there is no fiddling necessary to get it working in Firefox.

Alan Stainer It’s just your statement was a little ambiguous and suggests you couldn’t watch Netflix natively on Ubuntu in any way until this Firefox implementation.

Jean-Loup Rebours-Smith That’s why I mentioned being able to watch it out of the box with Ubuntu and other distros that have Firefox preinstalled. Before this latest update, you had to install Chrome or use some other workaround. Now you no longer need to do that.

Right, I see what you mean, I forget that Chrome doesn’t come pre-installed unless you use ChromeOS
