Powerwall 2 and Solar Roof Launch
The Powerwall 2 can store a lot more energy than the original Powerwall. Making it possible to go off grid when combined with solar.
Solar is getting a lot more interesting with the launch of the solar roof. Before watching the video I found it hard to imagine what it would actually look like. Well, I can you you. It looks like a roof. You would be really hard pressed to notice that it is made of glass, with solar cells hidden underneath.

I had inquired about solar shingles but the price was way to high for Mid-Atlantic region. Since we do not have enough sunny day to cover the cost did not look feasible. Unfortunately I just read that DOW had ended production and no longer offer their system! http://client.dow.com/dowpowerhouse

I have a small solar pack and its saves me 15‰ off my electric. So I can imagine how great a rooftop solar system would be

Last year I made 900 kWh for the month of October, this year I am at 172 kWh 4 times less What a dismal fall here in Alberta. I need quite the storage to make up the difference. $392 / kWh is the best price I have seen.

Bosko Mistrelovic Agree. I was looking for the same thing. I see my aging slate roof and think ‘why panels? – why couldn’t each ‘shingle’ be an individual solar ’tile’. Did not realize someone had attempted to produce them.

I’m a fan of dome houses for mostly practical reasons. I would love to know the all year potential of these solar roof panels on a dome house in a rural area in the southern half of the US or anyplace within 40° of the equator.

Virupaksh Managundi & Agbator Alex I deleted your comments with contact details in, as this isn’t an appropriate place to be doing such things. If you do want to exchange such details, it would be far better to do so in a private post you have made yourself, or you can of course use G+ to communicate (again in a separate post rather than sidetracking the current thread) instead of an email address.

That would depend on the home it was installed in.
