Tesla Powerwall
Robert Llewellyn meets a family that has a Tesla Powerwall and talks about the benefits. There are significant savings to be made if you have solar PV and a Powerwall.
This video is interesting, not just because of the word Tesla thrown into the mix, but also because of the discussion in the second half about battery technology and the effects it will have on the national grid.
My take away from this is as follows, if enough investment is put into rolling out solar PV and household batteries across the UK, then we really won’t need Hinkley Point C. The technology exists now, we just need to get a move on and use it!

Don’t expect the Tories to think with their brains when it comes to energy.
The benefits of energy decentralisation from power plants to people’s homes and businesses is a simple-enough case to make which would be a win-win situation for everyone but alas this isn’t likely to happen fast enough to reverse the dangerous trend we’re on.
Francis Borg says
Nuclear power stations are gigantic projects with many interests, financial political and personal in some cases. Unfortunately, they will always take precedence to common sense which dictates that renewables will always be the most efficient source of energy but alas.

Matt Hatfield I believe it was implied in Jean-Loup Rebours-Smith’s comment, as the British government seem determined to build the most expensive nuclear power station in history.
Jean-Loup Rebours-Smith says
Alan Stainer well that and there being no more subsidies for renewable energy which affects a lot of projects especially up here in Scotland

Jean-Loup Rebours-Smith good point. We have a rubbish government when it comes to energy policy.

Alan Stainer we have a rubbish government period I think
