Windows 10 upgrade, please go away
A client of mine called to say her laptop had upgraded to Windows 10 and could I do something about it. She didn’t want it and wanted her old Windows 8.1 back.
So today I reverted it back to Windows 8.1 and disabled recommended updates from automatically installing.
There were a few updates to do, none of which were the Windows 10 update. So I left it chugging away installing the updates I had selected.
What do you think happened?
That’s right, I go back to the laptop to check how the updates were going and find the Windows 10 upgrade ready and waiting for me. All I have to do now is restart to install it. No other options. Zip. Zilch.
I guess I’ll have to let it go through, downgrade it again and then advise my client they need to install Linux for my own sanity.
Update: Okay, I think I managed to avoid the Windows 10 upgrade installing again. The key thing to remember is to cancel the reservation for the upgrade in the Get Windows 10 app.
