Interesting article Alan Stainer. So many websites have by default the “install our browser” box ticked that it’s far too easy to install something you have no idea about.

Something which I didn’t have the space to mention in the paper, is performance. I saw a study recently which indicated web page load times are significantly impacted by the security software we often install. Some were even suggested could slow down page load times by a couple of thousand percent. When you consider that web developers and SEOs spend half their time trying to optimise sites to perform quickly, it is a bit like getting a kick in the teeth.
