Banner ads don’t work

October 9, 2015 by Alan Stainer

Banner ads don’t work

At least according to the IAB.

I notice it does not mention brand exposure at all. Surely clicking on a banner ad is not the only end goal of advertising. Just by putting your business name in front of people, you are exposing them to your brand. That in turn makes it more likely that person will go on to search for your brand on Google or wherever.

It’s not all about the clicks, although they are desirable.

The IAB are saying that a 0.08% CTR is normal. Not with my publishers it’s not!
