Windows 10 update poll
A very simple question for you, as I find myself vexed by the update process. In other words, it hasn’t worked for me.
So the question is, if you have tried the Windows 10 update, did the install work?
If it didn’t work, feel free to say why in the comments.

Answering my own poll, it failed at exactly 96% three times in a row. Big waste of time.

4 PCs, all had insider builds of Windows 10 installed. My Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3 had some issues, but they were all fixed in the 10240 build.

I haven’t installed it as yet because I am want to retain my sanity. I will wait until the screams of frustration and oaths of exasperation have died down and are replaced by the Ooooh’s and Aaaaah’s before I make the attempt on my wife’s laptop.

Well, I finally got it working, but…
I had to select the option to wipe the previous settings. Then to cap it all, it failed to recognise the ethernet port or WiFi card. I checked the Acer website and it doesn’t have any new drivers, but does say that it is supported.
Thankfully I have found the best feature of Windows 10 so far is the option to revert to the previous version of Windows. That is the only part of the whole process that has worked flawlessly for me so far.

The install process was smooth but like the others I also ran into network stack issues. Reverted back to 8.1

It failed for me too, did the installation, tried to restart three times then said ‘Restoring your previous version of Windows’. Windows 7 loaded but was totally useless, had to reload backed up image I had made. Reluctant to try again!

We’ve just done one of our office PCs and it worked perfectly, first time. What’s the betting it doesn’t go quite as smoothly when I come to update mine?

I tried five times , then I figured if Microsoft can’t get the download process right , why would I an OS that they designed .

I’m not going there, I’ve lost a lot of patience and ejected more than a few expletives over the various re-incarnations of MSDOS over the years, and in that respect it has changed not one jot. Can’t get through two years without the burning desire to reach for a sledgehammer to pummel it into dust.

Installed ok but after trying it for a few weeks I reverted back to 8.1. To many things I didn’t like.

Yes and No: I rolled back the first install as the video drivers I would have needed where not available, the install didn’t warn me and left me this a basic driver only. Later upgraded without a problem when the drivers where available

I guess I was lucky. I’ve upgraded about 14 different machines, including laptops, desktops and tablets from different brands, well known and unknown and I haven’t had any problems.
