Traffic Jam Assist

A practical example of how automated driving can help in the real world.

The Autonomous Car is kind of here already

In January I was given a lift by a lovely chap called Anson Abraham took me for a gentle spin in a Jeep Cherokee fitted with a recently launched Bosch system called Traffic Jam Assist.

It controls the car in heavy traffic up to 35 miles an hour. As you will see, it’s hard to discern when Anson is driving and when the system is in control.

This step by step approach to autonomous driving make a lot of sense as we gradually get used to cars doing the driving for us.
