Folder and URL structure and naming
Well blow me down, I was just thinking about writing a post about this very subject, but it looks like Malcolm Oakley has beaten me to it!
Anyway, directories and sub-directories all form part of a page’s URL. So pay attention to how you organise things on your site, because it really does make a difference.

The mistake I made many years ago was in not choosing a domain name that really reflected my website content. I’m not too worried, I’m only here for the fun.

When I look back at some of the sites I created when I first started writing HTML, it makes me cringe.
Luckily, I figured out the structural aspect fairly early on and was able to change things without much problem.
Similarly, with domain names, if there is a better one available, move your site and set up 301 redirects to the new address so you don’t lose your all important search rankings.
It’s never too late to make improvements!

I had considered doing just Alan Stainer but the honest truth is that I cannot be bothered. My sort of work is well old fashioned now and is really just a fun thing for myself. Ten years ago animated gifs were very popular and many communities were thriving but things change. Even Flash has had its day.
