What exactly is SEO?
It can get confusing with all the different acronyms out there and all the chat about social media this, search engine that and content marketing something.
Mark Tillison gets to the heart of the matter with regards to SEO. It is something specific and shouldn’t be confused with the multitude of other strategies you should be employing for your website.

Should we call it SEO?
Normally I will write an intro to a post where I give reasons for others to look.
With this one, I think the image has the message so I’m cutting things short.
Excellent article on how to manage your online strategy and very well worth a read.
Credit to Mark Tillison both for writing it and passing me the link to it as part of another discussion

It’s a good post Mark Tillison. I have first hand experience speaking with people that think SEO on it’s own will magically get them to the top of Google search results and bring in reams of traffic to their site. Not realising of course that it is only one small piece of a very large puzzle, starting as you quite rightly say with content.

Alan Stainer just the one experience? I have far too many of them.
One enquiry just yesterday from a plumber.
Can you do link-building for me?
We decided AdWords was a quicker option to get his phone ringing and to come back to organic traffic later ;)
Alan Stainer says
Oh no, it’s a daily occurrence.
